André Robert Lee

André Robert Lee is a filmmaker, educator, and multidisciplinary artist whose work uses storytelling to create connection, deepen public dialogue, and bring overlooked histories into view.

From directing films and producing intimate portraits as the American Storyteller for National Scrollathon to leading conversations in classrooms and communities across the country, André believes the work continues after the credits end. That is when audiences begin discovering their own relationship to the story and to one another.

A personal philosophy

“When I say action, I am speaking to the audience.”

André’s practice moves between film sets, classrooms, museums, schools, and public conversations. In every space, the invitation is the same: look closely, listen deeply, and find yourself in the story.
